Subject: [CR]fun to ride

ANYTHING was fun to ride from 1975 to 1985, when I was riding Como Street in Irvine CA and Simi towards the mid-80s. In toe-clips and no helmets, it attracted only a certain few. And once in a group, we had to ride straight and predictibly. I had the pleasure of getting yelled at a few times by the likes Chester Kyle, Phil Guernacia, Gian Simonetti etc.

I raced on my Carlsbad Masi. Ralph Carnevale was good enough to sell it at his cost to me. Baylis did the decals a bit different, but a Cadillac jumped right out in front of me and there went the top tube/downtube. I only had the one bike and boo hoo. The funny part is that Ralph turned the bike upside down, put his foot on the BB, and pulled the fork out so it didn't hit the DT....and off I went, riding it for a few yrs after.

I never felt I loss a race because of what I was riding. The Centurion Pro, Wizard and Masi were OK. We (Holland, then Brian again) finally figured out a 50cm x 54cm probably suites me better, this was yrs later though. Whatever I was riding, it didn't help or hinder my performance. It was always the rider, not the bike.
