>pagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 I took a look at the eBay site, and though I can't say I have ever seen one
with these details, it looks like a variation on the HURET dropouts (known
as "honeycomb" or "hexagon") that were very popular on Gitanes of a certai n year. Of course I can't remember what year (around 1985, I think) but the
archives will help. I never saw this exact vertical/ventilated version of them...odd that the frame has no braze-ons if from that era, but...Also, ma ybe mentioned already but the seller says he included a Stronglight BB, so if the spindle length is right then you're taken care of with that. IIRC, y ou can press the conventional HS cup and race into the French headtube, so if you get a generic Tange chrome fork, you should also be able to fit a ge neric BSC headset, though you might need the JIS 27mm crown race for the fo rk, any and all of which is pretty easy to come by. Funny, but I would have
guessed that by the time a frame with these dropouts came around that Gita ne (or any of the big French concerns) would have switched over to ISO thre ading standards. Maybe it's time to consult that Gitane guru's site... Good Luck, YRMV, Alan Goldsworthy SF, CA, USA
