Many thanks to Steven, Mick, and Angel for all the additional information about Jesus Mujica.

I'm somewhat spoiled for pictures from the 1949 Bordeaux-Paris, but I like this one best because it gives a sense of the mayhem and intensity as Mujica, having just dropped Hendrickx, confers with one of his pacers (I think it's Lorenzetti) as they push on towards the victory.

Jesus-Jacques Moujica (previously Jesús Mujica)

Born September 18, 1926, in Villareal (near Bilbao), Spain, his parents immigrated to Boulogne-sur-Gesse in France when he was very young, before settling in Saint-Gaudens et Toulouse.

Died November 14, 1950, in Montelimar, Spain, in a training accident with fellow cyclist Raúl Rey.

Moral victor of the 1949 Paris-Roubaix (riding powerfully at the front until his left pedal broke), he was the dominant rider of the 1949 Bordeaux-Paris, finishing 4'25" ahead of runner-up Emile Masson, Jr.
