Dear Sheldon You are quite correct in what you say, this was very common-place amongst 6 Day riders when in the old days that had to have one team member on the track riding all the time. Lots of fascinating pictures of 6 Day stars riding around the track reading newspapers etc. In Britain as kids we use to call up turned drops "Cowhorns" there also use to be proper cowhorns which were straight bars with the ends turned up. These were used on cycle speedway bikes. Phillips and Claud Butler's mad a lot of cycle speedway bikes. Kindest regards Frank.
