The DuoPar is a fine design, and was successfully used on many tandems, as the best choice available in its eara. Wrapped a whole bucketful of chain, too. BUT, two warnings:

1) If you get one, be sure you get the little adapter that allowed it to swing from either Campy-type or Huret=type drop-outs. Heartburn, like the Jubilee, but not so bad, since the Jubilee actually had different models for different DOs.

2) If you need to back up, don't. With singles, it is easy enough to lift the bike (if you don't have loaded panniers), but us lazy tandemists often just roll the long-bike backwards. There is a money-back guarantee on this one: you can't adjust the gear well enough to keep it from getting confused and wrapped up around itself. our tandem was not the lightest, so we wound up moving to SunTour GT and such...

A learning curve of formidable amplitude is on my screen it seems. Thank you for the correction.

To clarify: My fuzzy recollection was version/versions of Duopar were not quite up to the bench mark performance established by the Duopar name and, that the Eco version was an underacheiver. So, 'tis a relief to be relieved of my misconception and simultaneously informed that I have the very mech. needed.

I am surprised that you do not think much of the huret duopar (either the eco steel model or the titanium model.) Frank Berto, who is a hero of mine, considers this to be the best-shifting derailleur of the early 1980's (better than Suntour VGT, although not as light as Suntour Cyclone, which are two of his other favorites.)
