Robbie,
Sadly, that frame is too big for me. But I wanted to let you know that - as far as the better LeJeunes are concerned - I doubt that you can really say anything definite based on the serial number. Perhaps if you had access to one of the file cabinets that once resided in Monsieur LeJeune's office...
Even then, who knows? These frames were built by several different contractors (all of whom were highly skilled, by the way) but I would be surprised if the frame numbers make sense within the scope of LeJeune's output. In fact, neither of my LeJeune frames have any serial numbers at all.
But I wouldn't be surprised if some of the contractors numbered frames according to their own output. That is, if this were a Bernard Carre frame (I'm not saying it is, I'm just using him as an example) and it had a frame number. This could be the 254th frame he build - although that seems too low. Maybe it is the 254th frame that the contractor supplied to LeJeune; or the model number of the BB shell?
Really, that's the beauty of the good LeJeune bikes. I.e. there will always be an air of mystery to them, much like an ingĂ©nue from a French film...
      Best regards,
Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia (USA)
