Great question and interesting info from Jan.

From a builders perspective what sort of things really make the difference to you? What element(s) of the frames that you are most proud of differentiate them from the rest of your work?

From a very experienced and educated riders perspective, what are the sorts of things you feel are better between a great builders best and near best? Various macro innovations, finish care, handling, custom components.

Workmanship vs technical execution - the terms sound synonomous to me, what's the diff?

The fit of the main joints that I see coming from the best builders are so precise that anything better would be on a near atomic scale and I can't imagine of any practical improvement. It's the other joints (like perfectly sized/aligned/angled fork end slots) that I find challenging, but I can't imagine that they are to the exceptional builder - at least on my tolerance scale. The macro elements like finish care, handling, accoutrements would seem easier to identify and evaluate, but everything that occured under file or torch - that's what I find facinating.
