But in my opinion, the competition has created a major distraction and consequently detracts from the experience of looking at each other's bikes at the Bike Show. And the ensuing second guessing of the judging and hurt feelings every year is something I'd rather not experience anymore.

Any other opinions out there?

I mostly agree Chuck.

It seems that in conversations about the awards after the show is over someone always feel slighted. Divisions lie along the lines of east vs west, lugs, paint, etc. Until real problems arise though I think the judging should remain the same. We can police ourselves. I know the judges did a great job. It is mostly thankless work, and they take some heat to boot.

I'm all for creating an award for the best KD impersonation. With our group of friends it's one we wouldn't need to pass out.
