This subject had gotten me very confused & concerned. I've been looking at my old catalogs, etc., and I think I finally have some solid answers to account for the different SR bearings. Some of this info was clarified in a "Record News" pamphlet [Vol.1 No.2], but was never explained in the actual catalogs:
SR Titanium bb axles: "... both axles and cups have pressed-on steel bearing races."
SR Road cups (#4033 & 4034) had rifled axle holes, the SR Track (#4133 & 4134) did not.
The NR "Road" cups (#745/A & 746/A) were rifled, and these were intended ONLY for double chainwheels. ~ And, technically, there was no Nuovo Record "Track" gruppo, it was always simply the "Record" Track group.
"Record" cups (#745 & 746) are the same as the Gran Sport series. These were NOT RIFLED. These could be used for any single, double or triple chainwheel combinations. This would include the Record Track, Triple, Cyclocross groups, and the Gran Sport road double crankset.

1.) For years I have I have heard mention of "thick" or "Thin" cups. Were there actually additional ones made besides what I have mentioned above - perhaps for the CPSC modified BB spindles - during the Nuovo Record & Super Record years?
2.) Catalog #18 (c.1984) shows Super Record cranksets just used Nuovo Record or Record bottom brackets. Anyone know why Campy stopped using the Ti bottom bracket sets for the last years of the Super Record Group?
