My most grateful thanks to those who contributed to this thread. This is the kind of stuff where I find the CR list absolutely invaluable, enabling me to catch up on all those years that I missed.

It's also driven home that realization that Erie, PA in the late 60's/mid-70's was a real cycling backwater. Although I was completely immersed in the culture up to the moment that I left town in June '77, I'd never seen a 6-speed freewheel.

I'm also assuming that the six-speed Atom on the Raleigh Professional was an option, as I don't remember anything of them, and at that time I'd have certainly noticed, equipment junkie that I was. A.R. Adams only sold two or three of the Professionals during my tenure there, and they all had normal five-speed freewheels. I'd have certainly noticed the difference, as I did all the setup work before delivery on the higher end bikes.
