Nice idea Sheldon... Although, unfortunately, I assume he will then still be needing the right (non-drive) tandem crank arm, since this was an "orphaned" crankarm from a tandem set.
So,... With the lack of a right side crank arm anyway, why not go all the way and try a dual-sided drive system. ~ Flip-flop fixed rear hub, double sprockets, and a second (right) crankarm to give a chainring on the other side, as well.
No reason to ever do this... but, now THAT would surely be an interesting conversation piece. [Come on Sheldon, you know you'd like to try that set-up, too.]
