The metal in the STI housing runs lengthwise, longitutinal, to minimize compresion caused change in length. Brake housing hand a single fatter spiral metal wire that is orientd sort of across the direction of the housing.

How does one identify which of that loose & lay-about housing is which? I thought the metal coil was different but, I do not remember the details. No, I don't have definite bits I can use to compare. I apologise for this remedial question; just having a memory lapse.

Thanks.
