Sorry I'm late to the party on this one, had no internet for a day.

Here's my experience, I've used the Tufo tape (not the extreme) and found in typical texas heat that the tape softens, and oozed from under the base tape on a well pumped tire. This ooze picked up all sorts of road debris, and also fouled my brakes. I contacted Tufo North America and was told that the regular tape was for their cyclocross tires, and the extreme tape was for road tires. Nowhere had I heard that before. cleaning my mavic gl330 rims was not an easy task, finally ended up with copious amounts of mineral spirits and a rough cheese cloth to remove the sticky ooze. To remove the glue residue from the tires will require scraping off the excess glue. Tufo N.A. also advised that if I were going to reuse these tires to use regular sewup glue and not the tufo tape.

As of this writing I'm sticking (no pun intended) with good old glue and a bit of patience. If I feel insecure about fixing flats out on the road I might take some of the tufo extreme tape with me, to be removed as soon as I'm home.

The best I can say about the new gluing tapes is at least they're better than the old Jantex tape.
