The present owner of Rauler has absolutely nothing to do with the original partners who founded the company in the 70's, so what appears on the present website is not necessarily complete or correct. The company was created by partners Raul Gozzi and Ernesto Colnago, with the company name being made up by joining their first names. Gozzi had already been doing most if not all the pantographing for Colnago for a number of years already. This included work on components as well as engraving of lugs, crowns, shells etc... Gozzi's brother was also one of the larger Colnago dealers in the province of Reggio Emilia as well as an accomplished builder.
The relationship between Gozzi and Colnago exploded for one reason or another and Gozzi maintained the company. Their bikes are indeed very nice, with very high level of workmanship. They also ride very well. Unfortunately, they were never clearcoated and the decals are therefore known to dry out and peel away.
The new owner, whose name is Govi, no longer deals with steel frames and also doesn't handle pantographing. He does maintain a shop and does some frame building too. He told me that he threw out a large quantity of pantographed components a few years ago as they were weighing too heavily on his financial books. They were officially destroyed.
