Jay Sexton asked:

"What tires would you recommend for these rims?"

Hi Jay,

Since you asked, I've been thinking about this and considering whether I may actually have some good recommendations... both for your benefit and my own.

I began to write down my observations but realized I have far too much subjective experience to put into a simple List posing. So,... I'll make an accessible webpage and should have some interesting comments to share with everyone in the next day or so, based on my actual extensive "Road Tests".

First of all: It is advisable to read Sheldon Brown's fine pages on tire size, particularly what he says with regard to recommended fit for a given rim width.

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html

My 27" Module E rims have an inner width of merely 13mm. For this dimension one chart would recommend tires between 18mm and 25mm. This would leave us a very narrow selection of tires between measuring between 3/4" and 1" x 27". However, in my risk-taking I've used tires measuring everywhere between 3/4" and 1-1/4" without any problem resulting from the fit on these rims. So, I'd say most available tires will work fine in these rims. Furthermore, they are bona fide "hooked" rims, so folding tires are perfectly acceptable for mounting on these rims.

Again, I'll get back to The List with a link to my extensive observations and with specific recommendations. ~ Gee, thanks for the homework assignment, Jay...

Cheers!
