In France, the Rigida also is available in 48 holes. Ask Rivendell
whether they can get you some. Also, 36, 40 and 48 hole Synergy 650B
rims are available in various models, but not easy to find. I think
Tim Rangitsch (Acme Bicycles, Rapid City, ND,
acmebicycles@rushmore.com) has them available.

We used 650B x 36 hole rims front and back on our Paris-Brest-Paris tandem. That said, almost all Rene Herse tandems used 40-hole rears (with 36 holes on the front). Considering that Herse did not overdesign his bikes, there must have been a reason for this...
