Hello, David--
While others, because of their seniority, are more entitled than I to welcome you to the CR List, welcome you are indeed, David.
I very much enjoyed the photos of your Chemineau. It is a lovely machine and you are SO FORTUNATE to have so much of the original equipment with it. I hope you don't mind a gaggle of questions---
1. Am I right in assuming the wheels are 650B?
2. You say the bike is about 50 years old---do you know the exact date of manufacture? Do you have any serial numbers that provide a clue?
3. What size frame is she? She looks about a 58cm or so from here.
4. I couldn't tell absolutely from the photos, but it seems like a 4-speed rear freewheel? What is the rear spacing?
Gotta love that giant cage on the rear derailleur's lower pulley!
Again, a lovely machine, and thanks for sharing it.
Cheers,
Peter Jourdain
