[CR]1965 Paramount Track Paint Job

Although I have not seen the posts myself, I have heard there was some discussion about the quality of the paint of a Paramount Track frame I sold on ebay recently. Some people apparently thought it had too much paint. That particular frame had very thick lugs, which was not uncommon with the 60s Paramounts (I have two myself) and in addition, it had some extra brass buildup around the lugs. It was quite difficult to get it to look good without some extra paint. Also, it was painted over a year ago and was one of the first paint jobs my new painter did. He painted Porsche's and VWs before this. He fussed over that frame quite a bit and his paint is as smooth as I have ever seen. That frame and every other one he has done looks terrific up close. He makes the edge between chrome and paint almost non-existent, and you can feel no texture to the paint at all. The person who bought that frame is thrilled with it, and everyone who saw it in the shop thought it looked great too. I could have sold it a dozen times in the shop but I wanted to see what ebay would do. Very well was the answer to that question. It got 27 bids and went far above my guess for it. The results speak for themselves. If one could fault that paint at all it is that Schwinn never made them look that nice. I got quite a few positive comments on it during the auction, five of them asking if we could paint their frame too. Here are a couple: "boy i wished that was a 60 or 58cm wow what a beauty" and this: "Hi. Gee, what a beautiful bike! Just a few questions--my '62 Paramount track bike doesn't have the brake bridge drilled in the rear--did some have this and some not? Also does this bike have the original round cross-section front forks? Lastly, is the rear spacing track spacing (if I knew what that was off-hand...)? Thanks for taking the time for these questions--I think you'll see my bid sometime this week. Good luck with your auction! "
