Yes, you are correct. A lot of people have talked about Mavic rims, but in the area where I lived at the time (Northeast Ohio), all the PX-10s arrived at the shops with SuperChampion Arc-en-Ciel tubulars. The shop I hung out at (Heinz Linke's Lakewood Cycles) sold more PX-10's than anything else and they all had SuperChampion.

If you look closely, there is still part of the 531 decal present on the right fork blade. No doubt that this is an early 70's PX-10E, just as the seller says it is.

Anyway, y'all think so far it's really a PX-10E with rims, crankset, and brake levers swapped out for some reason, and with the Reynolds decals long departed.

I presume you meant to say crank and brake levers, rather than fork and brake levers. I agree, the original crank was Stronglight model 93 and levers were Mafac, like the calipers. Also, this bike probably came with SuperChampion tubular rims, which were changed out to 27" clinchers. Probably rebuilt with the original hubs, as he gold label Normandy Competitions with Simplex QRs are correct.

Perhaps the original owner couldn't deal with the unique Stronglight extractor thread and perhaps the French pedal thread. Don't understand the DiaCompe levers, unless he didn't like the Mafac half hoods.

If by so small, you mean the 165mm cranks, I agree the original Stronglight would have been 170mm.
