It is interesting that the "curve" of these cranks is in the opposite direction to Peter Brueggeman's curved cranks,

I also doubt PMP's theory regarding the advantage of the L-shape, but in both cases, when standing on the pedals at TDC, they could be more flexible and thus smoother.
