John The topic of bilaminate construction took a thrashing on the CR list a couple of years back: http://search.bikelist.org/?SearchString=bilaminate Back in the day, Paris and Cottingham used bilaminate lugs,as did Tom Ritchey more recently.

That's a very good point. While "back in the day" they may have been a hybrid construction that may have cost less to execute than using imported Nervex lugs, they are certainly rare now and as far as I know, were only made by Claud Butler. I'm thinking that even fillet brazed frames would be more collectible today than one would have expected back when they were originally made. The cost of filing and sanding those joints to perfection would be prohibitive today.
