Subject: [CR]FS: pristine early '80s Serotta, orginal DA parts - only $600

This bike is a paragon of the marque... in fact, this is the very Serotta featured here:

http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/Serotta/Serotta_RJ-B.htm

(if the link doesn't work for you, go to the Ben Serotta page of American framebuilders at the Classic Rendezvous site - it's the red one at the top of the page).

The bike is being sold by my friend (and former CR lister) Rich Jones-Bamman, who asked me to share the following with you (please contact him directly at the email or phone number below for more info or to discuss):

Early '80s Serotta (probably "Club Special", but no markings) in perfect condition (no fooling). All decked out in its original build, w/2nd generation DA throughout. It's currently set up with a few replacement parts (brake levers, stem and pedals), but all of the original goodies have been preserved and are included in the sale.

Here are the details: ST: 60cm (ctc) TT: 57.5cm (ctc) Standover: 33.25" Campy dropouts (long adj. rear) Brilliant red paint w/yellow highlights and yellow decals

F&R ders: DA Brakes: DA (currently set up w/Shim 600 aero levers, but I have both the original DA non-aero [dry hoods] and an excellent set of DA "AX" aero levers w/NOS hoods; both sets are included) Cranks & Chainwheels: DA 52/42 (note: these are the cranks that were tapped oversize for DA platform pedals; I'm including the original pedals and the plugs that allow you to use a standard diameter pedal thread). Stem & Bars: Original 12.5cm "hidden bolt" DA stem w/Nitto Model 165 (look like old Cinelli "shield") bars (both original 40cm and NOS 42cm currently on bike); I'll also throw in the Nitto Technomic Deluxe 10cm stem currently on the bike, which was purchased new last year. Headset & Seatpost: DA; fluted post and "star" shaped headset Wheels: DA hubs (36 F&R) laced to Araya clincher rims; new Michelin Axial 700X23cm tires (brown sidewall w/discrete red stripe--very sharp looking); 6 spd freewheel. Saddle: Black Selle San Marco "Regal" (padded leather w/large rivets along back edge). Extras: Silca frame pump painted to match.

Condition is truly unbelievable, with only a few pin-sized imperfections in the finish. Most of the componentry looks like it's fresh out of the box. The only real flaw exists in the downtube decals, which have slipped over the years; don't know whether they can be replaced as I never cared enough to inquire.

I would like $600 for the bike and all the spare parts; shipping extra (best to count on two boxes to ensure that everything is properly packed--this is a big frame). Please let me know if you have questions or desire more photos.
