This bike was found on a scrap heap, under a rather heavy fridge, thus the rather battered but original paintwork :

It was programmed for destruction the same day.... A small tip to the ironmonger and he helped lift the fridge off.....

I have also been on the scent of an absolutely exceptional early 50's chromed RH tandem, it turned out the widow of the original owner called the local metal recuperator who was quite happy to come and pick it up with a load of other iron waste...

I wonder what percentage of Rene Herse's have been destoyed? I suspect quite a high proportion of the early bikes, say pre 1955, (when the original owner died the inheritors just judged this was an old bike completely past it), a lot less of the later ones...
