Subject: [CR]Silicone Grease on Bikes?

I just replaced a leaky cartidge in a bathroom faucette and the hardware store man said to use silicone grease for two reasons: 1) to prevent leaky threads; and 2) to prevent either mineralization or oxidization from making the threaded nuts difficult to remove years later.

Question: would silicone grease make sense to use on any threaded applications on a bike? Bikes are subjected to road spray, rain, and dew intermitently. I suppose ordinary grease can do the job, but I wondered if any list members see any advantages, or disadvantages to using silicone grease on bike threads to facilitate subsequent tinkering? I typed in silicone grease into the archives and came up with several entries, but they did not seem to come down squarely on either side of this question.
