Offer to pick it up from him and pay cash. I had a second chance scammer call me a scammer cause I wanted to do it that way. The guy had offered it to a couple of the other bidders too, we all knew each other, and figured out what was going on pretty quick. Of course he wanted Western Union payment.

After a recent bid (>$1K) for a Rivendell I didn't win, I received a couple of emails from "ebay" saying the winner had backed out and I was next highest bid. I replied to both saying I was interested and then received email from supposed owner(s) with instructions for payment!
