Chuck, John P. , Ted and all I have missed regarding pedal modificati-

While I do not have wide feet, thanks to an overcorrection when I was very young, I pedal toes out, so the placement is the same.

Steel pedals can be bent, I used a bench vise and either copper jaw inserts or leather scraps.

I have also done the hacksaw surgery to Steel or Black pedals, I use silver paint on the steel ones. Have done the Chuck trick of swooping ebay for a "mashed" pair, happiness, but long ago I have seen Campagnolo pedal axles bend so it is not without some risk.

For me, while I like the Black pedals for no rust and weight, I have had to modify mine a different way, as the black aft plates get bent in a slight twist from pulling up in urgent situations. I fabricated a tie rod between the plates long ago, problem went away.

On last comment about sawing off the "round", the radius in plan view actually starts prior to the point where the typical Pista pedal ends, so I come back with the pedal in a vise, clamped by the rivets, and bend that slight area straight, then file to mimic the Pista pedal shape.

Way back, Campagnolo Pista pedals were in short supply for a time, so it was necessary task if one wanted or needed "track" pedals or wanted to be like Eddy, as more than one would carefully review images in International Cycle Sport and or LeCycle to see what was trick.

Back from a day of riding trains with my son with a detour to watch Brian Baylis push a 66 x infinity gear around the San Diego Velodrome. Charles being cap't on a Pogliaghi Sprint Tandem with really cool "jumper" strut reinforcements for the fork. And Joe Bell being a man not to mess with as he had a front brake. Mr. Enright would not approve.

Oh, yeah, Tam's 50's Masi Sprint was fun to see in person.

Bob Enright was the perpetual ABLofA district rep for almost forever, wore brillant white warm up suits and baseball cap, with the ABL of A patches placed just so, and was called the "ice cream man" by a well known So Cal sprinter once after a judgement call he did not like. I think that even made Competitive Cycling at the time.
