I finally made it to one of the local CR rides this past weekend. This one was sponsored by Rita & Gabriel Romeu in south central New Jersey. The weather couldn't have been nicer, sunny and in the low 80's. Those of you who think all of the state looks like the urban area bordering NYC you would have been in for quite an awakening.

The route was a beautiful 25 mile loop bordered by farms & historic houses. It was mainly flat and somewhat tree shaded with some nice rolling hills thrown in.

there was a great bunch that included Mike Schmidt, John Pergolizzi, Tom & Christine Adams, Dan Artly, Joe & Jan Bender-Zanoni, Steve Maasland & others whose names unfortunately escape me. Some of Gabriels local riding buddies helped as route guides and end sweeps.

There was some major bike candy as mentioned in previous emails that was either brought for display or used during the ride. I was sorry I was not able to stick around for the food and bench racing part of the program as I had to head to another engagement.

Thanks to the hosts generosity I had the opportunity to take a last cruise on a Ron Cooper that had recently left my home to live at Gabriel's.

To some people it might not make sense to drive 150 miles to ride 25 on an old bicycle and then have to leave immediately. To these I might say it's the ride, the bikes & most importantly the gathering of interesting and diverse people that makes life a richer Experience. My thanks to all involved.
