out that
Signor Pelizolli (probably misspelled) would have received the
commission to
build frames for the 1980 Soviet team well before the event, and maybe
would
have promoted his high-profile status in the run up to the Olympics,
and/or
during the very year itself. Sort of what all the "Official" softdrinks
and
snackcakes do in this modern marketing age. And of course he'd continue
to
commemorate that participation after the Olympic year, too. I'm just
throwing
out the possibility...
While on the subject of Ciocc, I have a later-than-Mockba model that I
bought
used and abused as a frame only from a racer and have never known what
model it
is or the build date. It was beautifully repainted/decal'd by Ed
Litton, but I
hesitate to show the CR list since it *might* be off topic. It has a
semi-fastback rear cluster, very short-point lugs, and the Cinelli IC
BB shell
that I call the "aero scoop" style. If that's enough info to confirm
it's past
'83, then I'll go no further, and my apologies to Dale! if somebody
wants to do
detective work, contact me off list for pics. (these will be nothing
like Ray's
georgeous photos, I'm afraid)
