Sure - just bear in mind that a spacer of the adjustable cup has no effect on the chain line. If used one the adjustable cup, it would only affect whether or not any extra threads were visible. In fact, if used on the adjustable cup, a spacer might prevent you from making the lock ring sufficiently tight.
