I purchased a N.O.S. pair of Mavic MA rims from a local bike shop yesterday. They were pretty inexpensive, $20 each, and seem quite sturdy. These have a very low profile (around 13.5 mm), and although they appear to be anodized, they nevertheless have a very bright silver finish - not the gray finish found on many newer rims - so, I think they will still offer a very nice look for a pseudo-vintage wheelset.
These are double-walled with single eyelets. The latest generation MA-3 rims have the same construction but with a different, taller and more domed, profile (around 15.5 mm) and a dull silver/gray finish.
Can someone tell me how these first MAs differ from the next generation MA-2 rims (which I've never seen up close)?
Also, approximately when both the MA and then the MA-2 rims produced?
Thanks!
