Subject: [CR]Removing a REALLY stuck remainder of a crank cotter pin...

I have a problem. I have a cottered crank I'm trying to remove. The pin has resisted everything. The fancy tool, the big hammer, the solvents. I haven't hurt the crank and I don't want to. We've cut off the cotter on each side and drilled the sucker almost totally out yet it still won't pop out, not even its partial remains. We haven't hurt the spindle either---have drilled up to it from either side. So there's a half-moon of pin still in there, that's about all. I've read the usenet info---the crankarms are in a straight line. The pin is a softy. We didn't have a torch at the shop, so I figure that's my last option---to heat and then also use a punch and see what happens. After that, if no luck, I suppose the crank is toast. It's a nice Stronglight. BUT! BUT! Maybe you guys have a sneaky idea! If so, thanks in advance! --JP (After we get the pin out I suppose I'll have to use the pipes-on-crank-arms method to remove the crank... ?)
