I think I disassembled the pantograph of a really old one (early '70s?, it was that long ago) by pushing the pins out forward, but I think you could tell by miking the exposed ends. The pins were solid, and did not look like rivet ends. I reused them, but that doesn't mean I should have.

I am interested in taking a NR rear derailleur apart for a bit of hot rod drillium fun & games, but I'm unsure about removing the pivot pins. There are two styles of pivot pins, right (early & late)? Does the removal method differ w/the type of pins? Also, are the pins usually reusable? If not, is it the case that replacement pins are very difficult to find? Seems like I've seen this mentioned on the list before, but a check of the archives hasn't turned up much info. Any other misc tips etc would be greatly appreciated and many thanks.
