I think it was like a polo type helmet. The clips on Milkent's bike are /is the holder of a spring clip release on one of the old was it REG water bottle cage assembly. Remember, that the guys used their track bikes on the road for long 25 to 100 mile rides, and many guys couldn't afford two bikes. Pfarr does have both ears protected with leather covers he made himself for protection. Milkent was my partner in the team race. We had won the race the week before, and when he fell and broke his collarbone early in the race I rode on alone rather than quit, going in and out on relief with a designated member of another team. I managed to end up 4th in the team race by myself, out of about 12 teams and got a few bucks for us as they paid down to fifth. It was a ten mile race with 10 sprints, one every fifth lap on the 5 lap oval dirt track. Ted Ernst Palos Verdes Estates, CA
