Yeah. Put those schwinn varsity parts on your high-zoot british steed. I vote for weinmann 610's or 710's, not 500's. more is better.

P.S. I have a set of weinmann 500's removed from a badly rusted schwinn varsity (placed on the curb 3 blocks from here.) If you want brakes that LOOK JUST LIKE THEY SHOULD for an early 1970's custom british frame, i can send them to you .. *grin*.
