I'd like to put a triple on my Girardengo (I'm 50 something and we have real mountains in Oregon!) and even though I'm more interested in practicality then I am period correctness, I like to use a Campy product. I can't really afford top-of-the-line, but I'm not sure of the differences between TOTL and the lower cost Campy products. Why are they less expensive? Inferior metallurgy or finish? Weight? (the more you get the less you pay?). Which is "better", GS or Chorus? Or is it date related? I've seen "Racing" as a model designation on a couple of Campy items on EBay. When was/is this line manufactured and how does the quality rank vs. Record etc? I've searched the Campy section at the CR page and at Campy Only, but didn't find answers to these questions.
