Yes, I did, also as seen on John Barron's NOS Masi on the velostuf site.

What we did at the bikeshop was install the clips first, then back out the screw, rethread the screw into a spare clip, cut then dress it in a grinder, then remove, which cleaned up the threads and reinstall on the bike. Paint to finish to arrest the rust from attacking. Helped keep the working end of the screw from finding a spot to bayonet as well. This was done when the shop owner was not looking as he thought it was frivolous. Small touches did keep the clients' happy though.
