Yes, the change was almost certainly in response to failures at the logo. At the risk of being a little picky, I will point out that the logo was stamped, not engraved like panto parts are. I don't know if stamping is better or worse, w/ rspect to stress risers, than engraving of the same geometry. In any case, a good friend broke a left side, first-gen C-rec arm climbing a steep hill at the very end of a long ride. I wasn't too badly injured, and Campy sent him a new arm, and two new Ergonomic pedal cages. They probably were relieved that he didn't try to milk it for a grouppo or a million dollars, or whatever, but that is not his way. These days he inspects all parts of his bike quite faithfully. He cleans as he inspects and his bikes are always very clean. More recently, a first gen 9-speed Dura Ace arm started to show cracks, and was replaced under warranty. Interestingly, that deign changed slightly too, and the replacement was a FC-7701 rather than the original FC-7700. The inboard edges down the length of the arm had a much bigger radius on the 7701.
