You think you were "lucky", you should consider the scores of cyclists who

raced professionally on the Peugeot-BP team with these "death stems"! That

book on Peugeot is loaded with racing photos showing just that. Of cours e, someone will tell me they were actually Cinelli-made stems designed to loo k like AVA stems. Me, I am quite content to tempt the fates riding my PX-1 0 with an AVA stem. It didn't kill Tommy Simpson, so I'll take the chance.
