Fifty-Three Years Ago - Tying spokes together with one continuous loop.
I'm leaving this image blown-up 200% to help see the details - remember to click on "Full Size". Sorry for the graininess. Mlle. Lapoire and Mssr. Nivonnait set a new Hour Record for Mixed Tandem at the Cipale (?), covering 43.884 kms. Note the pairs of circular wires connecting spokes on both front and rear wheels.
