(headers deleted to protect the innocent) :-) The Schwinn Twinn should not be confused with a real bike for enthusiasts. It used the same same heavy-gauge steel spaghetti tubes as the Varsity and Continental, welded up the same way, and came in variants from 1-speed Boardwalk rental up to 10-speed. They are not to be confused with the (earlier) "Town and Country," which is identified by full-diameter tubing (4130 chrome moly), and oversized fork and headset. Also by curved rear seat tube.

One of the twinn's few virtues was that you could pick them up sooo cheap used. With a buddy, I even published a note (tandem club newsletter) on how to chop down the rear seatpost to make a kid-back tandem for much less than the cost of a kid-crank set for a real tandem. I did this maybe half a dozen times for friends.
