Art, Not quite correct. We have 12 and 24 hour time trials and you guessed it some time you are going to have lights on when competing in one of these. Now fitting lamps securely to a bike is a pain and our road surfaces where none to clever back then. Bit like today with Maggie and her lunatic policies we are now paying the price for, just try riding tubs around here. I digress. No a fork lamp boss is the best possible secure rattle free fixing. We even use to tap out the bracket and put a screw in directly above the lamp to stop it shaking off the bracket. Most of us used one of the alloy brackets like Constrictor or Ashby. It is not quite true that we were an impoverished race back then most of us still had two or three bikes. I would dearly like to know where these assumptions start that we were all to poor and only had one bike. Joe signature at bottom of the page.
