A very practical and inexpensive way to protect tires on wheels for storage and transport: Take an old wornout sewup tire, remove the base tape and cut it open. Remove the tube and clean up the edges to suit your aesthetics and stretch the sewup over your mounted tire. Great protection for a thrifty (pardon the pun) recycling exercise. Remember to keep a little air in the tires so any cover doesn't press on the tire and crease the casing or tube iside, which may damage your good tubular if left too long when uninflated.
