I have a couple of Campagnolo track cogs, both 16 tooth, both steel, but distinctly different engraved type treatment/lettering. I am trying to determine which is earlier and which is later and when each of them are from. Here are some photos of exemplifying the difference (note: these aren't the actual cogs I have but the engravings are the same as the ones I have and exemplify the difference):

I am under the impression that the one with the more 'condensed' (or skinnier) letters is earlier and the one with the more 'expanded' or wider letters is later. Is this correct?

You will also note that the one with the more condensed letters, when insalled with a lockring, shows less (or hides completely) the engraving, while the one with the expanded letters when installed shows the engraving proudly.

Can anyone confirm the vintage of these two examples? Check your bikes if you have a known-vintage cog.

Much thanks!
