Subject: [CR]Paint over chrome finishes? (Enik)

Some of you may have seen messages that I posted recently about a fake Bianchi that I had a acquired, which members of this list were able to identify as a late 70's Enik, a German brand which still exists, and which apparently made high quality bikes during the 70's and early 80's, some of which were supplied to the German national team.

http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/main.php?g2_controller=useralbum.UserAlbum &g2_navId=xb85a3ff0&g2_GALLERYSID=b770eb518424218d4cd90f3deec90bf4

When I got it the bike was wearing some early 70's Nuovo Record, with rainbow pantographing and an unidentified 'B' logo. It's now wearing a more appropriate late 70's Dura Ace EX group, and I'm thinking about how the frame should be painted.

All of the frame and forks are chromed, but I believe all but the fork and the chainstays were originally painted over the chrome. (Only on the chainstays and the fork is the chrome fully finished.)

Are there special paint finishes which are applied over a chrome plated frame to give a translucent or pearlescent effect? If so, can anyone point me in the direction of some photos of such a finish? I've seen discussion here of the gold Wilier finish, which got me wondering about special effects from paint over chrome.

And, I don't suppose anybody can provide any further information about Enik bikes in the late 70's early 80's - which might help me work out an appropriate paint scheme for the bike? Best of all would be photos of the German national team from the 70's, using Enik bikes...
