hi Wayne,

what frame are you referring too? one thing that would make me think it is not a gios, or at least one that has been modified are the suntour rear drop-outs and a discrepancy between the brake cable guides and the 3 slotted bb shell.

the 3 gioses i've had all had gios stamped, at least on the bb along with the size as well as the gios logo, coins or "GIOS" on the fork crowns, campy rear drop-outs. the only one i have with a 3 slotted bb is the professional. it also has the cable guides running underneath, but there is a guide for the FD under there too. it's also stamped GIOS in large letters on the top-side. the size and serial number should be underneath. however, the professional had internal cable routing for the rear brake, so there wouldn't be the brazed cable guides you mentioned.

seems like gios only began using serial numbers from the mid-80's when they introduced the professional. neither of my earlier gioses have a number.

if you have pics that would definitely help.

Hi all, I've just gotten the above frame, unable to locate any serial #, any ideas, this frame has the following features, NO decals about tubing, this is not light, 126mm rear spacing, suntour short rear dropouts, 3 brake cable braze on the top of the top tube, lever braze ons, recessed brake, rear deraileur cable stop on the underside of the , NO front deraileur cable braze on guides anywhere, I would have thought there would be one somewhere for that, is this common?, seatpost clamped with a allen headed bolt, 3 main lugs are long point, BB has 3 slots in it with NO marking, but then again it has a thick coat of white paint, any ideas about date?......regards wayne davidson Invers NZ......
