Eighty-Two Years Ago
Untiring veteran Marius Chocque, assisted by Honoré Barthélemy, broke the previous tandem hour record of 45.015 kms (which Chocque had achieved with Evrard). Chocque and Barthélemy covered 45.440 kms. They might well have broken the 46 km mark, but strong winds at the municipal track in Vincennes that evening caused them to delay the start of their attempt, and they road the second half in darkness.
