The answer may be obvious to those of us who were riding In The Day, but if one got into bikes more recently, one may only be familiar with the current Merciers, which are Taiwan, or more probably China, TIG welded crap. I believe the same people now own the Mercier and Motobecane names. I've heard this may include some of those involved with the infamous World Cycles in the early 90's. Neither marque any longer has even the slightest connection to its French roots. Make us Francophiles shudder to see two once proud names prostituted in this manner.
