Dave, Ken Russell rode as an Independent for Ellis Briggs and he won the Daily Express Tour of Britain in 1952 riding for them. He also rode in 1953 when he finished 18th overall, his team mate was Brian Robinson and he was 4th, Tommy Smith was the other Ellis Briggs team member. In 53 he rode again for Ellis Briggs with Jackson, Nichols and Robinson. Brian was 2nd and King of the Mountains. Ken was 31st. Im with you and think Ellis Briggs built his frames after all he's a good Yorkshire builder at that would be logical. That Russell has something of the Langsett seat stay eyes about it, not quite so elegant but another Yorkie builder. I reckon its more a mid 50's and the spec even down to the braze-ons Campag and Pennine gas pump is practically an exact copy of a 56 Langsett Pro which was ridden in the T of B. What I'll do is get this posted on CR as there is a bloke in Brighton called Ray who should be able to help on this and is very knowledgable about the scene back then. I for what its worth would doubt its a Wilson. Perhaps if it were late 50's but this looks early to me and a Brummie maker?. Wilson's really got their reputation from 58 onwards and had that great team in the 60's. Best wishes Joe Croeso Cymru Joe King Nr. Maenaddwyn Ynys Mon Wales
