Wells also wrote a very delightful novel on bike touring, which included the protagonist's first attempts at riding the safety bike: "the wheels of chance." it is some very good english literature which really captures touring by bike. was this the first ever bike touring novel??? i believe it was published around the turn of the century. -dw
