Bicycling Magazine Nov. 2005 p. 62 has an article, "Dear Mont Ventoux" by writer/rider Mike Magnuson, which explains the Club des Cingles du Mont-Ventoux and describes his attempt to do all four ascents. I believe, he, too, a youngish man, did not complete the fourth, but went down in a crash-up.
